El Oued University organizes the 22nd International Forum on the Development of the Algerian-Tunisian Border Regions
Today, April 28, 2024, Mr. Wali of the state of Oued Said Akrouf, inaugurated the 22nd International Forum on the Development of Algerian-Tunisian Border Areas, organized in a twinning between the Faculties of Law and Political Science and Social and Human Sciences of the University of Martyr Hamou Lakhdar, in the Grand Lecture Hall of Abou El Qasem Saadallah, which will last for two days, April 28-29, in coordination with the Maghreb Shura Council, the Laboratory of International Legal Transformations and Their Impact on Algerian Legislation, the Laboratory of Social and Economic History of Algeria, and the Laboratory of Public Policies and Improving Public Service in Algeria, and under the supervision of Mr. President of the University, Professor Omar Farhati, Honorary President of the Forum.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Wilaya People's Assembly, the security and civil authorities, the revolutionary family, the heads of departments, the mayors of the border strip, and academic figures from Tunisia and Algeria.
The Director of the Higher School of Desert Agriculture, the Director of University Services, the Vice-Presidents of the University and the university family.
The University President, Professor Omar Farhati, delivered a welcoming speech to the attendees, expressing his happiness with this distinguished event and referring to the depth of brotherhood, history and partnership relations between the two countries. He also appreciated the tripartite summit that brought together the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Tunisian President and the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, pointing out the importance of the forum, saying, “We seek to achieve added value from this forum and to come out with important practical recommendations that focus on local development priorities according to the region’s specificities.” He thanked the governor of the state and the head of the state’s People’s Council for their support of the university and their valuable contribution to the medical annex, appreciating the efforts of all participants and those in charge of the success of this forum, especially Dr. Faraj Abd al-Hamid, the head of the forum, and all the scientific, organizational and media committees, and the deans of the two faculties, Professor Al-Maki Draji and Dr. Ammar Ghraisa, for the initiative of effective twinning between the two faculties.
Professor Al-Maki Draji also delivered a welcoming speech to the attendees, thanking the University Director and all contributors to this forum, hoping to present a set of recommendations to be implemented on the ground, appreciating the twinning initiative between the two colleges, which was blessed and adopted by the University Director.
The director of the forum, Dr. Abdul Hamid Faraj, also pointed out the definition of the forum, its importance and its contribution to achieving economic and social development in the border areas through enhancing means of cooperation and consultation between the two countries. Meanwhile, a representative of the Tunisian University, Mr. Bakoush Naji, gave a speech on the occasion, expressing his happiness to be present at this event. He also thanked the university director and all the participants and hoped that this forum would be crowned with success.
The opening speech was presented by Mr. Said Mokadem, Chairman of the Maghreb Shura Council, entitled “Development and Promotion of the Algerian-Tunisian Border Regions and Their Impact on the Maghreb Region - Algeria and Tunisia as a Model.”
This was followed by a speech by the President of the People's Municipal Council of the Municipality of Taleb Al Arabi, Mr. Omar Douim, entitled "The Reality and Prospects of Development in the Border Region of the State of El Oued."
During the opening ceremony, the university director was honored by the two colleges organizing the forum with the Successful Leader Medal, and the medal was presented to him by the state governor and the president of the state people’s council. The forum administration also honored Dr. Saleh Ziani with the Scientific Excellence Medal in recognition of his effective scientific contribution and his continuous cooperation with the Faculty of Law and Political Science.
The work will then continue through programming several interventions by professors and researchers distributed between the scientific sessions in research workshops and interventions that will continue until tomorrow.
