Chairwoman of the National Committee for the Promotion of the Use of the English Language chairs an evaluation meeting at Al Wadi University
Today, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Professor Qassed Assia, Chairwoman of the National Committee for the Promotion of the Use of the English Language, supervised an evaluation meeting in the conference hall of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, accompanied by the accompanying delegation, Professor Dr. Qandouzi Amar from Mouloud Mammeri University, Tizi Ouzou, and Dr. Salma Akasha from Houari Boumediene University, Algeria.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Local Committee for the Promotion of the English Language, the Vice-Rector for Pedagogy, Professor Bashir Manaei, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Professor Dalal Washan, and the members of the Local Committee, represented by its coordinator, Dr. Nasr Dahda, the Head of the English Language Department, the Director of the Intensive Language Center, the Quality Cell Officer, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages for Scientific Research and External Relations, the faculty’s staff, and professors.
The meeting was opened by Professor Assia Kassed, who extended special thanks to the University Director, Professor Omar Farhati, for his effective and continuous work in promoting the use of the English language at the university, his keenness on the quality of education and scientific research, and implementing the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and for providing all appropriate and excellent pedagogical and residential conditions for the training professors and trainees, and for all the members of the local committee for promoting the use of the English language at the university, and for all the efforts made to make this training a success in its first experiment. She pointed out the importance of the training and presenting the strengths and weaknesses, and the relativity of teaching in the English language at the university, and the extent of students’ ability and the difficulties they face.
The head of the local committee for promoting the use of the English language at the university gave a presentation on the scientific importance of the training forum for generalizing the use of the English language and embodying the strategy and objectives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, where the University of El Oued achieved a significant percentage in covering the standards taught in the English language, estimated at 117 professors teaching in the English language in the first semester, and 137 professors scheduled to teach in the second semester.
The committee coordinator, Dr. Dahda Nasr, touched on many points from the beginning of the training at the university and the work of the workshops and approved programs in the teaching process in the English language at the college level.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages also presented the keenness of the Faculty, its professors and the English Language Department to train and follow up on professors in accordance with the recommendations of the University President and the National Committee for Promoting the Use of the English Language.
The Director of the Intensive Language Education Center, Dr. Ammar Mustafawi, provided explanations of the center’s various activities, including intensive education courses and the approved training program, in addition to providing statistics related to the center.
The head of the Quality Cell, Professor Asadi Fares, pointed out the professors’ response and the extent of students’ interaction with the results of their graduation projects, many of which were presented in English.
After the meeting included discussions on the contribution of training to the quality of education in the English language and openness within the framework of international exchange to global scientific and research perceptions.
The meeting concluded with many directives that were presented by the Chairwoman of the National Committee to the members of the Local Committee, expressing her happiness at hosting the distinguished Wadi University for the training forum to enhance the use of the English language.
