Guidance and Evaluation Seminar for Higher Education Sector Reforms and Modernization Sessions at Wadi University
 
Today, May 22, 2023, in the Abu Al-Qasim Saadallah Grand Lecture Hall at the University of Martyr Hama Lakhdar-El Oued, the guiding evaluation seminar for the sessions of reforms and modernization of the higher education sector was held within the framework of introducing the program outlined by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research related to local workshops on the modernization of higher education, in the presence of the representative and vice-president of the regional seminar of the universities of the East, Professor Bouchar Marzouk, and the representative of the seminar office, Professor Kawan Mohamed, where the university director, Professor Omar Farhati, opened the seminar in the presence of the vice-presidents of the university, the deans of the faculties, the director of university services, the vice-deans, the heads of departments, the secretaries-general of the faculties, the officials of the fields, departments and specializations, and the representatives of professors and students.
The University President welcomed the representatives of the Eastern Regional Symposium and all attendees, and addressed the great importance of this evaluative and guiding symposium for the sessions of reforms and modernization of the higher education sector and the recommendations of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the close participation of all members of the university family, and the development of all proposals with the aim of modernizing the higher education and scientific research sector. The University President stressed the readiness of the university and the university family of the University of Martyr Hamou Lakhdar through the various workshops, and the Vice-President of the University in charge of scientific research, Professor Boubaker Mansour, presented a detailed presentation of the program and calendar prepared by the university, including the formation of committees, the appointment of coordinators, and the summary of the college reports.
The workshops operate in nine fields:
Workshop 1: Education and Training
Workshop 2: Graduate Employability, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Culture Development
Workshop 3: Training in doctoral and university research.
Workshop 4: Students' Living Environment
Workshop 5: University Governance
Workshop 6: New proposals for pedagogical organization.
Workshop 7: The university’s visibility, attractiveness and international influence.
Workshop 8: Legal and regulatory accompaniment.
Workshop 9: University Social and Community Responsibility and Social Demand.
The Vice President of the Eastern Regional Symposium, Professor Bouchar Marzouk, began the symposium and referred to the reforms that the Ministry had observed. He discussed a number of important points and some improvements that would benefit the student, the importance of digitization, which has positive effects on the university, and stressed the need to follow up on horizontal subjects and distance learning and prepare professors well for this process. He also stressed the need for coordination between university officials and university services to ensure a quality university life and the obligation to provide all the possibilities to modernize the higher education sector. He opened the door for dialogue and interventions by the heads of the workshops to present a brief overview of the progress of the workshops in each college, while giving all the suggestions. He also opened the door for professors and student organizations to raise their concerns.
At the conclusion of the symposium, the Vice President of the Eastern Regional Symposium, Professor Bouchar Marzouk, extended his thanks to the University Director and to the entire university family of El Oued University for this positivity and the work of the Director in close participation with all stakeholders and the university family. The work of the workshops also aims to improve and ensure quality in the higher education sector, pointing out that all recommendations and suggestions will be delivered to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
During their visit to the University of El Oued, representatives of the Eastern Regional Symposium checked the readiness of the major files in the university’s higher education and scientific research sector, especially study offices and emerging institutions, and assessed the readiness of professors to teach English for the 2023/2024 academic year.
During the symposium, the university president received the news of the death of the late colleague Dr. Masoud Tawhariya, a professor at the Faculty of Arts and Languages. The university president offered his condolences on his own behalf and on behalf of the university family to the family and relatives of the deceased.
All attendees should stand for a minute of silence.

The University President concluded the symposium with special thanks to the President of the Eastern Regional Symposium, Professor Latrache Mohamed El Hadi, his deputy, Professor Bouchar Marzouk, the representative of the symposium office, Professor Kawan Mohamed, and all the members of the Eastern Universities Regional Symposium for the efforts made to embody the strategy and objectives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
