The Governor of El Oued State announces the official opening of the Medical Annex at the University of El Oued
Today, 09-24-2023, the Governor of El Oued announced the official opening and launch of classes at the Medical Annex at the University of Martyr Hama Lakhdar during a joyful celebration in the Abu Al-Qasim Saadallah Grand Lecture Hall.
The governor of the state said in his important speech before announcing the official opening of the annex that “my support for the establishment of the medical annex is a duty that I perform within the framework of my work, just as I do in all sectors in the state.” He added, praising the great role played by the university director in this achievement, “I say frankly that the owner of the idea is Professor Farhati, who presented to us the idea of the annex project, so we adopted it and supported him and those who worked hard with him in completing the medical annex.” The governor of the state also noted the role of the President of the Republic in approving the annex project, considering that the state of El Oued has always been a model for several achievements due to the energies and capabilities it has, and it only needs to be supported and highlighted, and the Faculty of Medicine in El Oued will be - as he said - one of the best colleges at the national level. On this occasion, the governor of the state thanked those who supported the project, including the former director of health and population and his medical and administrative team, the president of the state people’s council and his deputies and elected officials, in addition to the parliamentary representatives and the people of this state from individuals and associations.
The opening ceremony was attended by local administrative, security and military authorities, headed by the Wali of El Oued, the revolutionary family, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Batna, which includes the Medical Annex, the Director of the Annex, Professor Samir Darwish, the Vice-Presidents of the University, the Deans of the Faculties, the Secretary-General of the University, the President of the “Al-Shifa” Association for Health, Humanity and Scientific Creativity, Algerian-French, Dr. Yahya Abdelmoumen Al-Makki, a specialist in viruses from the University of Lyon in France, as well as a representative of the Association of Private Doctors, a representative of the Association of the Medical Alliance of Private Doctors, and several former doctors, in addition to the students of the Annex, estimated at 155 students.
For his part, the University Director, Professor Omar Farhati, in his welcoming speech, thanked the attendees for accepting the invitation and considered that the opening of the annex constitutes a historic event in terms of the course of the medical annex project file, which initially encountered several difficulties, but everyone’s efforts - as he said - were ultimately crowned with the realization of the medical annex project on the ground. The University Director thanked the governor of the state, the president of the state’s People’s Assembly, the elected officials, the members of parliament, the medical associations, private doctors and many loyal people from this state for their support.
The university director announced that the university system that he heads in terms of administration, pedagogy and logistics has pledged to “make the training qualitative and distinguished in the medical annex, and we will provide all the necessary equipment in addition to what is available, and we will choose the most competent professors to teach in the first years, including the contribution of professors from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Batna, from doctors’ associations, and from specialist doctors from inside and outside the country.” The university director added, addressing the medical students, “Be happy, you will never regret pursuing the study of medicine at the University of El Oued, and you will be proud of the qualitative training that you will find in your annex, which will compete with the largest medical colleges across the country.”
Several speeches were delivered on the occasion by the director of the annex, Mr. Samir Darwish, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Batna, Mr. Ben Abbas Monsef, the representative of the Director of Health and Population, the president of the Association of Private Doctors and the president of the Medical Alliance Association. A video presentation was also given on the new medical annex and the health facilities in the state, and a speech by Dr. Marika Lamine on the history of health in the state of El Oued, in addition to the screening of a historical film on the martyred activist Malika Kaid. The governor of the state, the president of the state People's Assembly and a number of former doctors and pharmacists were also honored.
