11 male and female students and a supervising professor from Uzbekistan will study the Arabic language at the University of the Valley soon on October 8th.

On October 8, the Faculty of Arts and Languages at the University of Martyr Hamou Lakhdar will receive 8 female students, 3 male students and a supervising professor from the Department of Arabic Language at the University of All World Languages in the Republic of Uzbekistan, which has a twinning and partnership agreement with the University of El Oued in the field of mobility, student exchanges, pedagogy and scientific research.
Today, October 4, 2023, the University President, Professor Omar Farhati, held a coordination meeting dedicated to organizing the process of receiving and accommodating guest students and reviewing the pedagogical program prepared to teach them the Arabic language and literature. The meeting was attended by all concerned parties, represented by the Director of University Services, Professor Jamal Quraisha, the Vice-President of the University for External Relations, Professor Habib Qaddah, the Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Shawqi Madallal, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Professor Dalal Lushan, the Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Dr. Mesbahi Yassin, and the Sub-Director of Resources and Maintenance.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages gave a comprehensive summary of the conditions for receiving and training Uzbek students in the faculty, the program allocated for their education, and the quality of professors assigned to the teaching process. She also explained that the pedagogical program invested in several Arab, Gulf, and foreign experiences in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers and adapted them to the program and previous acquired experiences, especially since the faculty had previously received Uzbek and Malaysian students for the same purpose of learning Arabic.
The Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature also made an intervention on the most important standards that serve the learning of the Arabic language and its sciences for foreign students, which are based mainly - as he said - on teaching them the pronunciation and reading of the Arabic language and teaching them the rules of the Arabic language and some of the sciences of the Qur’an and Arabic literature, including poetry and prose, including teaching them prosody and the meters of poetry. He also confirmed that an elite group of outstanding male and female students in the Arabic language were selected to interact and communicate with the guest students in order to enable them to obtain a high level in the Arabic language.
For his part, the Director of University Services confirmed that his staff had gained qualitative experience through their previous dealings with foreign students, noting that the Hadda Saleh residence had been allocated for female students and the Belhadi Abdelkader residence for male students, adding that the Uzbek students would have male and female companions from the university services who would ensure that their needs were met and that all conditions of comfort were provided. The University Director also suggested outlining an additional activity program for the benefit of the guest students, which would include organizing cultural and recreational activities and field visits to the most important tourist and cultural landmarks in the region.
