SDG5: Gender Equality

Gender equality is a cornerstone of a progressive society, where every individual has the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from economic, social, and cultural development. The University of El Oued has embraced this principle by implementing measures to ensure gender equality and empower women and girls throughout its campus and community. These initiatives not only promote fairness but also enrich the educational environment through diverse perspectives and leadership styles.

Leadership and Participation

The University of El Oued actively encourages the participation of women in leadership roles within both the student body and faculty. To this end, leadership development programs specifically designed for women are in place, aiming to equip them with the skills and confidence needed to assume leadership positions. These programs include mentorship, workshops on leadership skills, and networking opportunities with successful alumni and professionals.

In addition, the university celebrates International Women’s Day with events that recognize and honor the achievements of women within the university and the broader community. These celebrations are not only a tribute but also serve as a platform for discussing ongoing challenges and strategies for achieving gender equality.

Awareness and Advocacy

Understanding that awareness is the first step toward change, the University of El Oued conducts regular campaigns and seminars to educate its community about gender biases and the importance of equality. These sessions are designed to challenge stereotypes and foster a culture of inclusivity and respect.
