Today, March 23, 2023, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research provided the first start of doctoral training activities for the academic year 2022-2023. In accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 1419 of December 24, 2022, which sets standards and terms to support training in the third phase of the higher education institutions, the University of Eloued began organizing the event today at noon in the Abu Al-Qasim Saadallah Grand Hall. The event was attended by the Vice-Rector in charge of Scientific Research, Professor Boubaker Mansour, the Vice-Rector  in charge of External Relations, Professor Guedda Al-Habib, the Vice-Rector in charge of Pedagogy, Professor Bachir Mannai, deans of faculties and their deputies, members of doctoral training committees, directors of research laboratories, new Ph.D students, and a group of university staff.

Ph.D. students will receive an excellent foundation for commencing their studies with the planned comprehensive four-day induction program. On the fifth day, a facility-based introduction will acquaint you with the amenities, developmental activities, PGR’s faculty, staff members, and fellow postgraduate researchers.

In his presented speech  , the Vice-Rector of the University, Professor Guedda Al-Habib, on behalf of the University Rector, Professor Omar Farhati, welcomed the participants and congratulated the new Ph.D. students. He expressed gratitude to all contributors for their efforts in organizing and ensuring the success of the competitions. He emphasized the opportunities for Ph.D. students to benefit from various scholarships.

As part of the event, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research addressed the university community and the doctoral students directly through video conferencing technology. He discussed several key areas in the fields of development, including the initiation of the first training program for new doctoral students. The minister highlighted the preparation of national references in educational materials, philosophy, English language, and information and communication technologies by the designated national committee. This initiative aims to support the training of doctoral students and ensure the monitoring of their education under optimal conditions. He wished the students success and progress in their academic journey. An recording of the President of the National Committee in the same context was also broadcasted.

The mandatory annual Induction Programme, conducted by The Graduate School in October and March, spans four days and is essential for all PGRs embarking on their PhD journey. The primary goal of the Induction is to propel them into their academic careers by providing a set of workshops and presentations encompassing research degree processes, skills enhancement, open access, library resources, EDI, and research integrity. Additionally, the new researchers delivered presentations on their research topics, regarding orientation within their respective supervisors, interacted with supportive University staff, and established a WhatsApp cohort to keep connected throughout their academic endeavors.

Many of the incoming PGRs include professionals and academics, with a significant portion pursuing their studies on a part-time basis. The Induction seeks to extend a warm welcome to all new PGRs, fostering a sense of belonging within the University research community and providing them with a solid foundation for the extensive journey ahead in their research degrees. The Vice-Rector professeur Boubaker Mansour, a  PGR responsible, shared his perspective on the event, stating, “After spending a week with the Post-Graduate Students in El oued University, regarding the foundation for  Ph.D research, I already sense a strong and reassuring dedication from the University towards my academic career, well-being, and research project. The week provides an excellent mix of informative sessions and interactive experiences, and the awareness of being part of a larger group and research community has heightened my enthusiasm.
