Within the Framework of the 5+5 Algerian-Tunisian Cooperation Agreement

On the morning of May 12, 2023, within the framework of the 5+5 Algerian-Tunisian cooperation agreement, and with Professor Omar Farhati, Rector of The University of El Oued , serving as the coordinator of the Algerian delegation, several cooperation and partnership agreements were signed between the University of El Oued, represented by its Rector and accompanying delegation, and the Universities of Jendouba, Gafsa, Sfax, Kairouan, and Gabes. These agreements aim to establish twinning arrangements between the five universities, strengthen cooperation and student exchange, and promote scientific research among them.

The face-to-face meeting of the 5+5 Algerian-Tunisian universities also discussed the outcomes of the meeting of the Vice-Rectors and Rectors of Algerian and Tunisian universities, focusing on several points:

  • Evaluation and implementation of the outcomes of the Annaba meeting in November 2022, with proposals for short-, medium- and long-term programs.
  • Appreciation of the progress made on the digital platform for researchers and research laboratories in the participating universities. Several proposals were made to expand and improve the use of the platform and encourage all professors and researchers to participate.
  • Approval of The University of El Oued as the host of the third meeting scheduled for December 2023. This meeting will be held alongside an important international scientific event, including international doctoral days, innovation exhibitions, student achievements, and various cultural and sports activities.
  • Discussion of allocating a number of students for exchange in the framework of doctoral studies between the two parties, after corresponding with the ministries to consider the legal requirements.
  • Proposal of meetings between representatives of laboratories in fields and topics of common scientific interest.
  • Organizing forums on topics of priority and mutual interest.

The meeting concluded with the signing of 25 twinning agreements between Algerian and Tunisian universities to enable and implement the aforementioned clauses and topics within the framework of the 5+5
