Delegation from “World Languages” University of Uzbekistan Pays a Working Visit to the University of El Oued
A high-level academic delegation from “World Languages” University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, paid a two-day working visit to the University of El Oued, Algeria, on February 7-8, 2023.
The delegation was led by the University Rector, Abidjanov Alisher, and included the Dean of the Faculty of Translation, Karimov Rivojiddin; the Head of the Department of Arabic Language, Kodirova Kamala; and Abbas Ahmed Al-Zubaidi, in charge of relations with Arab countries.
The visit was the first of its kind by an Uzbek university to an Algerian university, according to the delegation. The aim of the visit was to sign an agreement for cooperation, scientific research, and student exchange.
The delegation was welcomed by Professor Habib Qaddah, Vice-Rector for External Relations, on behalf of the University Rector, Professor Omar Ferhati. The delegation was also accompanied by Dr. Khalifa Kaid, Head of the Press and Publishing Office and Editor-in-Chief of the University of El Oued Journal, and Dr. Abdallah Reguig, Head of Media and Communication.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation toured the Faculty of Arts and Languages. They were welcomed by the Dean Deputy for Studies, Dr. Dahda Nacer, on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dalal Ouachan. The delegation also met with the Heads of the Departments of Arabic, English, and French Languages, the Director of the Knowledge Integration Laboratory, and the Secretary General of the Faculty.
The delegation visited the library of the Faculty of Arts and Languages and reviewed a number of Arabic books and scientific references. They also visited some classrooms and spoke with students and professors. The delegation gave a brief overview of the teaching methods at “World Languages” University and how outstanding students can obtain scholarships. They noted that tuition is free at all levels of education under the cooperation agreement between the two universities.
The delegation also toured the administration building of the Faculty of Arts and Languages and visited an exhibition of scientific journals. They then held a meeting in the conference room where they exchanged views with the faculty’s administrative and pedagogical staff.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Faculty of Nature and Life Sciences. They were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Abdelmalek Zaater, and the Secretary General of the Faculty, Mr. Abdelmalek Messaoudi.
The delegation toured the faculty’s facilities and laboratories, including the COVID-19 analysis laboratory. They also stopped at the model of a center pivot irrigation system in the lobby of the faculty and visited some classrooms.
The delegation members spoke with the students and presented them with the opportunity to study at “World Languages” University under the joint agreement between the two universities. The university will provide students with university services and support.
On the second day of the visit, the delegation is scheduled to tour some other faculties of the university. In the evening, the Rector of “World Languages” University and the Rector of the University of El Oued will sign a framework agreement for cooperation in scientific research and student exchange, in order to strengthen the scientific and pedagogical relationship between the two parties.
