University of El Oued Signs Twinning Memorandums with Six Arab Universities
On October 17, 2023, the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) Department of Sciences and Scientific Research organized the Arab Universities Twinning Forum in Tunis, Tunisia. The forum was attended by delegations from 37 Arab universities, including presidents and vice presidents of universities.
The University of El Oued delegation was headed by the Vice-Rector for Pedagogy, Professor Bachir Menaï, accompanied by Professor Redouane Chafou.
Professor Menaï gave a presentation on the achievements of the University of El Oued in various research and scientific fields since its foundation to the present day.
After discussions on the twinning memorandums between the universities, Professor Menaï signed, on behalf of the University President, cooperation and twinning agreements between the University of El Oued and six Arab universities:
- University of Science and Technology of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates
- Islamic University of Sciences in Aioun, Mauritania
- University of Science and Technology in Somalia (in person)
- Qatar University
- University of Sciences in the Sultanate of Oman
- King Saud University in Saudi Arabia (remotely)
In addition to the University of El Oued, three other Algerian universities participated in the first ALECSO Arab Universities Twinning Forum: Constantine 1, Oran, and M’déa.
The signing ceremony of the twinning agreements between the universities was attended by diplomatic representatives of the Arab universities and a representative of the Algerian Embassy. On the sidelines of the conference, the Algerian delegation met to discuss the importance of twinning between universities and its role in promoting knowledge, research, and culture in all areas of scientific and research life.
