University of El Oued Participates in the Regional Conference of Eastern Universities in Setif
On November 6, 2023, the University of El Oued participated in the Regional Conference of Eastern Universities in Setif. The conference covered three main themes: student academic mobility, the generalization of English language teaching, and university sports. The delegation of the University of El Oued was headed by the University President, Professor Omar Ferhat, and included the Director of University Services, Mr. Djamel Guerricha, Dr. Dehda Nacer representing pedagogy, the Head of the Monitoring and Coordination Department at the Directorate of University Services, Mr. Mouldi Chouchane, the Deputy Director of Scientific, Cultural and Sports Activities, Mr. Bachir Zidane, and Mr. Abdelmalek Massoudi representing the university league.
On the sidelines of the regional conference of universities, Professor Omar Ferhat, the University President of El Oued, took the opportunity to raise the issue of first-year master’s students with the Director General of Education and Training. The latter gave the green light to university presidents to take what they see fit in the best interests of the students. Consequently, the University President of El Oued issued an official decision, which was published and circulated today, stipulating that holders of a classic bachelor’s degree can register directly in the second year of the master’s program.
This important conference, which represents a turning point in the present and future of the Algerian university, was distinguished by the participation of university presidents, their deputies for pedagogy, directors of university services, presidents of wilaya sports leagues, and deputy directors of sports, scientific, and cultural activities. The meeting was also attended by the President of the Eastern Regional Conference, Professor Mohamed El Hadi Latrache, the President of the National Committee for the Generalization of English Language Teaching, Professor Asia Kaced, and the President of the National Committee for Distance Education, Professor Ahmed Belhani.
The conference discussed the theme of student academic mobility, which was presented in detail by the Director General of Education and Training, Professor Ali Choukry. The theme of the generalization of English language teaching and the prospects for the next semester was then presented by Professor Ahmed Belhani and Professor Asia Kaced. The third theme was university sports, which was presented in detail by the Director of Sports, Scientific and Cultural Activities at the Ministry, Professor عز الدين ربيقة, and the President of the Algerian University Sports Federation, Professor A. Saadi.
Professor Nasr Dahdah, in his capacity as a member of the local committee for the generalization of English language teaching and representative of the Vice-President of the University for Studies, presented a set of proposals that would help develop the use of English in the university environment. The Director of University Services, Mr. Jamal Gueriche, also spoke about the need to define mechanisms for student mobility in terms of accommodation and transportation.
