Evaluation Meeting of Priority Projects at University of El Oued

On May 30, 2023, Professor Omar Farhati, Director of the University , held a coordination meeting in the Abu al-Qasim Saad Allah lecture hall. The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rectors, the Secretary General of the University, the Deans of the Faculties, the Director of the Intensive Language Center, the Vice-Deans for Studies and Scientific Research, the Heads of Departments, the Secretaries General of the Faculties, the Heads of Fields, Departments and Specializations, and the Professors who are heads of projects and training committees.

Opening remarks

The Director of the University opened the meeting by welcoming all attendees and thanking them for their continuous and outstanding work in order to improve the university in all fields and areas. He highlighted the role and importance of the locally established committees in all relevant areas, and called for adherence to the timetable and deadlines set for the completion of all projects.

Presentations by the committees

1. Committee for the Implementation of Distance Learning

Chaired by Dr. Mohamed Salah Djelab and supervised by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Professor Boubaker Mansour. The committee chair gave a comprehensive overview of the training program for trainers and its tasks, and presented all suggestions and observations.

2. Committee for the Use of English

Supervised by the Vice-Rector for Pedagogy, Professor Bachir Menaï, and chaired by Professor Nasr Dahdah with Dr. Amar Mustafawi. This committee played a major role in training English language teachers. Professor Dahdah indicated that the first level of training in the faculties has been completed, and presented suggestions and observations. Dr. Amar Mustafawi spoke about the process of training in English language in order to achieve the desired goal of teaching English in the first semester of the next year.

3. Digitization Committee

Supervised by the Vice-Rector for External Relations, Professor Habib Keda. He gave a detailed presentation on the digitization process based on a plan and program that is relied upon in this participatory process. He also pointed out the projects within this plan and their progress within the university institution.

4. Committee on Start-ups and Innovation

Chaired by the Director of the Business Incubator, Dr. Mohamed Fouad Farhat. He gave a presentation on the discussion of graduation projects for start-up projects and how it is done according to a pre-determined program at the department level. The presentation included statistical data on start-up projects. Professor مفيد عبد اللاوي, Director of the Entrepreneurship House, spoke about the field and benefits of training courses.

5. Committee on Visibility and University Ranking

Supervised by Dr. Zouheir Tayr, Dr. Abdelkader Ouid, Professor Amar Zaabi and a group of professors. Professor Zouheir Tayr gave a comprehensive summary presentation on THE rankings and the criteria specific to Webometrics. He pointed out the different criteria, rankings and conditions that are used to improve the visibility and ranking of the university.

Dr. Ben Sghir spoke about the adoption of the ranking in the Umetrics portal, which relies on the effectiveness and dynamism of the website.

6. Study in Algeria Committee

Chaired by Dr. Abdelkader Mahmoudi. This committee is dedicated to international students studying in Algeria according to the indicators available at the university. In order to obtain the label “Study in Algeria”, specific criteria must be met.

Closing remarks

The Vice-Rector, Professor Boubaker Mansour, gave a brief presentation of the national meetings of the higher education sector. He presented a work plan and timetable, pointing out the selection of workshop coordinators and the collection of reports from all faculties.

The Director of the University opened the floor for discussion to address concerns and solve problems. He concluded with a word of thanks and appreciation to all stakeholders and to all those working in the committees and projects in order to promote knowledge and scientific research for the benefit of our students and our university family.
