A distinguished international activity under the slogan “People with Disabilities: From Taking to Giving”

In coordination with the Faculty of Literature and Languages, the Basmat Amal lub for people with disabilities organized a training workshop on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, to teach the Braille method to Uzbek international students in Arabic. The workshop was attended and supervised by the Vice-Rector of El Oued University in charge of scientific research, Mr. Boubaker Mansour, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Dalal Ouachen, her deputy Mr. Nacer Dehda, the head of the language department Yassin Mesbah, the president of the Basmat Amal Club Mr. Khemissi Achab, the Uzbek teacher Aigul bint Omar, and representatives of the sub-directorate of activities and the media personnel.

The workshop included the national anthems of the two countries, followed by a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, who praised the efforts of the club and welcomed its distinguished activities. She also confirmed her full support for people with disabilities in all challenges. She also praised the local and international activities provided by people with disabilities for Uzbek international students. This was followed by a speech by the president of the club, Mr. Khemisi Achab who emphasized the role of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages and her support of the club’s activities, and for hosting and embracing this specific activity. He thanked the entire university family for their continuous support. This also was followed by a speech by the Vice-Rector of the University of El Oued, Mr. Boubaker Mansour, who expressed his great happiness with the unique and special activities carried out by the club. He then gave the signal for the official launch of the training workshop.

The activity included a theoretical aspect that explained how to write Braille for people with vision impairment: (origin, development, and uses). This was done by distributing brochures and explanatory Braille prints. Then, the practical aspect was carried out, in which the means of writing were identified, from Braille boards, pen and ruler, and how to work with these tools. Members of the Basmat Amal Club for People with Disabilities started the teaching and training process and achieved the desired goal of moving this group from the idea of taking to giving. The third phase was distinguished by a reading and writing challenge competition for Uzbek students in an interactive and positive atmosphere full of vitality and energy. The workshop concluded with awards for the winners of the competition and the participants in the workshop.
