The National University Monologue Festival kicks off its eighth edition at the University of El Oued.
Today, February 27, 2023, Professor Omar Ferhati, the Rector of the University of El Oued, gave the signal for the start of the Eighth National University Monologue Festival. The festival is organized by the Directorate of University Services in coordination with the Cultural Radiance Association for Creative Youth, and it is being held in the Grand Lecture Hall Abu al-Qasim Saadallah.
The theatrical event was attended by Mr. Azeddine Hassani, the President of the Provincial People’s Council, along with his deputy Farès Belbasi, the Director of Culture for the Al-Wadi Province, the representative of the Tourism Directorate, the Director of the Cultural Center Mohammed Lamoudi, the Rector of University Services and its staff, the Secretary-General of the University, and distinguished guests from Tunisia, Mauritania, and Palestine, as well as professors, artists, and theater experts. A large gathering of students and enthusiasts of theater arts also attended the festival.
The festival features nine participants in the competition and a special presentation from Tunisia. Additionally, there were several workshops including a playwright workshop, an actor preparation workshop, a scenography workshop, and a directing workshop.
The National University Monologue Festival aims to instill major values in love for the country, pride in belonging to the nation, and fostering communication and acquaintance among the citizens of the same nation. It also aims to strengthen national identity elements to preserve the ideas of youth, provide an opportunity for artistic creativity in the university environment, promote a spirit of fraternity and love among students, discover and refine talents among students, and cultivate new interests, especially in theater arts.
