The President of the National Committee for the Research visibility and the Impact on University Rankings of Higher Education Institutions at the University of El Oued for an academic visit.
On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, the University of El Oued welcomed Mr. Harik Hakim, the President of the National Committee for the Research visibility and the Impact on University Rankings of Higher Education Institutions, along with committee member Professor Mohammed Ridwan Kafi.
This visit was part of the field visit program outlined by the National Committee to accompany the local committee for the Research visibility and the Impact on University Rankings of Higher Education Institutions of the University of El Oued, as well as various sub-committees of the faculties, and to closely examine the University of El Oued’s participation in international rankings such as QS and THE.
A session was held at 9:00 AM in the Main Hall of the Faculty of Economics, Commercial Sciences, and Management, chaired by Dr. Boubekeur Mansour, the University’s Vice President for Postgraduate, appointed by the University’s Rector, Professor Omar Farhati. The session was attended by Dr. Bachir Mannaai, the Vice Rector and, as well as the deans, their vices, the director of the Entrepreneurship Center, the subdirector of activities at the university, members of the local committee, and sub-committees for the Research visibility and the Impact on University Rankings of Higher Education Institutions of the University of El Oued.
During his delivered speech, he outlines on the role of the National Committee and the various international rankings that higher education institutions intend to participate in, Mr. Harik Hakim, the President of the National Committee, highlighted the ways to improve the university’s visibility and enhance its international ranking. He emphasized the significant work that the committee must consider to support the university’s researchers in achieving their desired goals. At the end of the session, there was an opportunity for attendees to discuss and raise questions and concerns, followed by Mr. Harik Hakim addressing various challanges.
Additionally, Mr. Harik Hakim, the Sub-Director of the National Committee of Research visibility and the Impact on University Rankings of Higher Education Institutions, held a meeting at 2:00 PM on the same day in the Main Hall of the Faculty of Economics, Commercial Sciences, and Management. This meeting included the heads of scientific journals at the University of El Oued. Dr. Boubekeur Mansour, the University’s Vice Rector of Research and Postgraduate, chaired the meeting as the President of the National Committee at the university. Mr. Harik Hakim focused on international rankings for scientific journals in international databases, particularly SCOPUS and ERIH PLUS. He discussed various criteria and eligible requirements applied by international databases and the procedures required to improve the ranking of scientific journals to insert them in these databases. At the end of the meeting, there was an opportunity for the heads of journal editorial boards’ presidents to present their concerns and challenges, which Mr. Harik Hakim addressed.
