Policy Statement
The University of El Oued is committed to sustainable water management practices, including the reuse of water resources. This policy seeks to optimize water reuse across campus operations, research initiatives, and community engagement, adhering to national and international standards while contributing to environmental sustainability.

Governance, Roles, and Responsibilities
The implementation and monitoring of this policy are overseen by the Directorate of Development, Planning, and Orientation. Responsibilities include:
Directorate of Development, Planning, and Orientation: Ensures the alignment of water reuse practices with national strategies and oversees infrastructure planning.
Facilities Management: Implements operational aspects of water reuse systems and monitors their effectiveness.
Academic and Research Departments: Drive research on water reuse and promote sustainable practices through educational programs.
Community Engagement Teams: Foster awareness and collaboration with local stakeholders.
Policy Provisions
Infrastructure for Water Reuse
Establish and maintain facilities for the collection, treatment, and reuse of wastewater.
Ensure all new and renovated infrastructure incorporates water reuse systems.

The University of El Oued ensures compliance with the following legal frameworks and regulations:
Law No. 05-12 (2005): Authorizes the use of treated wastewater for irrigation.
Law No. 08-03 (2008): Amends provisions for water management.
Executive Decree No. 09-02 (2009): Details licensing procedures for wastewater reuse.
Executive Decree No. 10-25 (2010): Establishes technical specifications for water treatment systems.
Executive Decree No. 11-219 (2011): Sets quality standards for water reuse.
Ministerial Resolution (2008): Approves technical guidelines for water infrastructure projects.
These standards guide the university’s efforts in sustainable water management, ensuring compliance with national priorities and contributing to Sustainable Development Goals, namely SDG6.
Policy Implementation and Review
Implementation: Facilities Management, in collaboration with academic and research departments, ensures the operationalization of water reuse initiatives under the supervision of the Directorate of Development, Planning, and Orientation.
Review: The policy will be reviewed every three years to integrate advancements in water reuse technologies and comply with regulatory changes.
