Three Master’s Degree Dissertations Discussed in the Field of Biology at the University of Wadi

On the morning of March 12, 2024, three Master’s degree dissertations were discussed in the field of biology at the University of Wadi. The dissertations were part of a patent project at the university’s business incubator

The first dissertation was presented by the student Zouari Ahmed Wafaa, Chadou Meriem, and Ben Ghaliya Wasal, who specialized in applied biochemistry. The second dissertation was presented by the student Soualah Madiha, Bsaleh Khadija, Lajemi Rabaa, and Soualah Fatima Zahra, who also specialized in applied biochemistry. The third dissertation was presented by the student Hafri Asmaa, Seba Ichwaq, and Ben Ali Ikram, who also specialized in applied biochemistry.

All three dissertations were supervised by Professor Samir Darwich. The discussions were attended by committees composed of professors from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Life Sciences and a representative from the business incubator. The committees praised the students’ work, commending their achievements and expressing their admiration for all the work presented.

It is worth noting that through all of the aforementioned student dissertations, prototypes of pharmaceutical products were prepared and registered as patents by the incubator at the National Institute of Industrial Property in Algiers. This is a credit to the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Life Sciences in general and to the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology in particular, to which all of the graduating students belong.

The first dissertation focused on the development of a new drug for the treatment of cancer.

The second dissertation focused on the development of a new diagnostic test for Alzheimer’s disease.

The third dissertation focused on the development of a new vaccine for the prevention of malaria.
