La XXII Conferencia Nacional sobre el papel del Tribunal Constitucional de Argelia en la protección de los derechos y las libertades
The 22nd National Conference on the Role of the Constitutional Court in Algeria in Protecting Rights and Freedoms concluded on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the Faculty of Law and Political Science. The conference was attended by the University’s Rector, Professor Omar Ferhati, and featured presentations by participants from various national universities and the Algerian Constitutional Court.
Over the course of two days, the conference yielded a number of important recommendations, which were read by Dr. Said Mokdem, President of the Maghreb Consultative Council. These recommendations included:
- Expediting the digitization of payment procedures and notifications of unconstitutionality at the level of the Constitutional Court.
- Preparing a comprehensive functional guide to the principles and rules of Algerian constitutional law, including a glossary of terms in Arabic and French, to facilitate a better understanding of the spirit of the text.
- Organizing training courses on unconstitutionality for judges and lawyers, in cooperation with the Constitutional Court, the Bar Association, and universities.
- Promoting the dissemination and dissemination of constitutional culture and human rights in society with the participation of civil society actors.
In addition to these recommendations, the conference also discussed a number of technical issues related to the correction and ammendment of some of the articles governing the Constitutional Court. These issues will be raised to the relevant authorities.
At the end of the conference, the participants sent a congratulatory message to all those involved in organizing the conference, including Professor Omar Ferhati, University’s Rector, Professor Maki Derradji, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, and Dr. Ahlam Harrach, Conference Rector. The congratulations were also extended to the scientific and organizational committee of the conference, as well as to everyone who participated in its success, directly or indirectly.
Following the great success of the conference, another date was set for future national conferences on this topic.
