PhD Thesis Discussion for a Student from Mauritania
On the morning of May 9th, 2023, the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of El Oued, Algeria, hosted the PhD thesis of Mohamedou Ould Hemmer, a student from the sister country of Mauritania. The thesis was entitled: “Waqf Urbanism in the Islamic West between the 5th and 9th Centuries AH/11th and 15th CE: A Study Based on Fatwas and Archaeological Evidence.”
The discussion was attended by the University Rector, Professor Omar Farhati, and the Vice-Rector for External Relations, Professor Guedda ElHabib.
This thesis is the first digital thesis to be approved without the use of any paper, in line with the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in this area.
The discussion was enriched by a distinguished debate, which ended with the student being awarded a PhD with a very honorable mention. The committee congratulated the student and recommended the publication of the thesis.
