Establecimiento de un club de idioma inglés para profesores universitarios
On November 28, 2023, a collective of faculty members at the University of El Oued sanctioned the establishment of the “Educators’ English Language Club” during a session overseen by Professor Mekki Derradji, who holds the position of Dean at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences. This endeavour received endorsement from fellow founding faculty participants.
The formation of the “English Language Club for Professors” is part of implementing resolutions from the Eastern regional conference that have consistently highlighted advancing and promoting English within university settings. The club has selected the Laboratory of Legal and Political Transformations within the faculty as its base.
During this gathering, the Dean pledged full support – both materially and morally – to ensure this initiative’s success. He emphasized that it will contribute to the university’s achievements while fulfilling directives from the Rector who underscores training educators and spreading English throughout academic surroundings.
According to club member and English language generalization program officer at the university, Mr Nacer Dehda, there are several objectives that the club seeks to achieve, including:
- Promoting the English language in the university environment.
- Developing communication skills among professors.
- Reviving the International Day of English Language and inviting international figures to activate seminars and meetings.
- Establishing cultural relations with the American Cultural Center and the British Cultural Center to promote the English language in the university environment and to conclude partnership agreements with local and national bodies concerned with the English language.
- Carrying out other activities that serve the club’s objectives.
