Once estudiantes y un supervisor de Uzbekistán estudiarán próximamente lengua árabe en la Universidad de El Oued
The Faculty of Arts and Languages at the University of El Oued will welcome on October 8, 2023, 8 female students, 3 male students, and a supervisor from the Arabic Language Department at the University of All Languages of the World in the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is linked to the University of El Oued by a twinning and partnership agreement in the field of mobility, student and teacher exchanges, and scientific research.
On October 4, 2023, the University rector, Professor Omar Ferahti, held a coordination meeting dedicated to organizing the reception and accommodation of the guest students and reviewing the pedagogical program prepared to teach them Arabic language and literature. The meeting was attended by all the parties concerned, including the Director of University Services, Professor Djamal Guerricha, the Vice rector of the University for External Relations, Professor Habib Guedda, the Secretary General of the University, Dr. Chouki Medellel, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Professor Dalal Louchene, the Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Dr. Messahi Yassine, and the sub- Director of Means and Maintenance.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages gave a comprehensive summary of the conditions for receiving and training the Uzbek students in the faculty, the program dedicated to teaching them, and the type of professors assigned to the teaching process. She also explained that the pedagogical program has invested in several Arab, Gulf, and foreign experiences in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers and adapted it to the program and previous experiences acquired, especially since the faculty has previously received Uzbek and Malaysian students for the same purpose of learning Arabic.
The Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature also gave a presentation on the most important criteria that serve the learning of Arabic language and its sciences for foreign students, which are based – as he said – on teaching them the pronunciation and reading of the Arabic language, teaching them the rules of Arabic grammar, and some of the sciences of the Quran and Arabic literature from poetry and prose, including teaching them prosody and poetic meters. He also stressed that a select group of distinguished students in the Arabic language have been chosen to interact and communicate with the guest students in order to enable them to obtain a high level in the Arabic language.
For his part, the Director of University Services confirmed that his staff have acquired a qualitative experience from their previous dealings with foreign students, pointing out that the Hadda Salah residence has been allocated for female students and the Belhadi Abdelkader residence for male students. He added that the Uzbek students will have female and male companions from the university services who will ensure that their needs are met and that all the conditions of comfort are provided. The University Rector also proposed the development of an additional activity program for the guest students, which includes organizing cultural and recreational activities and field visits to the most important tourist and cultural sites in the region.
