La Universidad de El Oued organiza un taller de orientación y evaluación sobre la reforma y modernización de la educación superior
On May 22, 2023, the University of El Oued hosted an orientation and evaluation workshop on higher education reform and modernization. The workshop was part of a series of regional workshops organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to introduce the program for modernizing higher education.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the University of El Oued, and other universities in the eastern region of Algeria. The workshop was opened by the President of the University of El Oued, Professor Omar Farhati. In his opening remarks, Professor Farhati stressed the importance of the workshop and the need for the participation of all members of the university community in the reform process.
The workshop was divided into nine working groups, each of which focused on a specific area of higher education reform. The working groups discussed a wide range of issues, including:
- Teaching and learning
- Graduate employability and innovation
- Doctoral training and research
- Student living conditions
- University governance
- Pedagogical organization
- University visibility and international outreach
- Legal and regulatory framework
- Social and community responsibility
The workshop concluded with a presentation of the recommendations of the working groups. The recommendations will be submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for consideration.
In addition to the workshop, the representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research visited the University of El Oued’s facilities. They were impressed with the university’s readiness for the reform process, particularly its research laboratories, start-up companies, and English language teaching program.
The workshop was a valuable opportunity for the University of El Oued to engage with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and other universities in the eastern region of Algeria. The workshop provided a forum for discussing the challenges and opportunities facing higher education in Algeria and for developing recommendations for reform.
