University of El Oued Rector oversees the extension of the opening hours of the central library to 10 p.m.
On October 1, 2023, the Rector of the University of El Oued, Professor Omar Ferahti, accompanied by the Secretary General of the University, Dr. Chaouki Medellel, oversaw the start of the new opening hours of the central library until 10 p.m. (22.00).
The extension of the new opening hours is part of the new ministerial circular on extending the opening hours of higher education institutions until 10 p.m. to ensure that the higher education institution remains in a state of continuous activity in accordance with the requirements of university life, especially the pedagogical and research aspects.
The University Rector received from the Director of the Central Library, Professor Djabou Adila, detailed explanations on the program prepared for this operation and the shift team mobilized to ensure the opening of the central library until 10 p.m. The University Rector, accompanied by the Secretary General of the University, visited the reading room, the bibliographic research room, and the lending bank. He also spoke with some of the students enrolled in the library about the conditions of their pedagogical activity in the library.
The University Rector stressed to the Director of the Library and the administrative staff working with her the importance of respecting the new opening hours and carrying out a wide-scale awareness campaign for students so that they can benefit from the library space according to these new hours, which he added is a new asset for the university, pointing to the possibility of extending it to laboratories and faculties.
It is worth noting that the central library of the University of El Oued has more than 18,000 members and about 15,000 titles with a total of 35,000 copies of reference books and 841 new titles in various specializations that entered the library last September, in addition to the existence of more than 500 doctoral theses, 398 master’s theses, 4410 master’s dissertations, and 250 academic journals.
