This morning, on March 15, 2023, the rector of the University of El Oued, Pr. Omar Ferhati. presided over a ceremony to honor professors and Ph.D students who have excelled in publishing in high-level academic journals. The ceremony took place in the Grand hall, with the presence of the university’s vice-rectors, the secretary-general, deans of faculties, the head of the university services committee, the director of the intensive language center, the director of the incubator, the head of the five-star committee, the director of entrepreneurship, the academic publications employee, as well as professors and doctoral students.
The university rector welcomed the attendees, expressing his happiness at this honor ceremony, where he praised the efforts of professors and doctoral students who deserve appreciation and attention for their contributions to the university’s development in the field of research and academia.
On his part, the vice director of the university, responsible for external relations, welcomed the attendees, thanking the professors and students who have improved the university’s Research visibility and the Impact on University Rankings of Higher Education Institutions .He also provided an overview of the criteria for the honors, which are based on the famous Scopus database, and highlighted the professors who have been promoted to the rank of higher education professor, the scientific journals, and special recognition for doctoral students who have contributed to high-level publications. He also mentioned that every student or professor from the three technical faculties who have published an academic article in a journal classified as A+ will be granted a scholarship for an internship abroad. As for other faculties, their professors and students will benefit from the same scholarships when their articles are published in A-ranked journals.
The ceremony also included a special recognition with valuable gifts presented by the director of the university services committee, Dr. Abdelkader Hima, to the top three most productive professors in global publications, namely Professors Boubaker Ben Haoua, Pr. Mohamed el hadi Attia and Pr. El Djilani Ben Atous, as well as the recognition of Professor Samir Derouiche, who has been promoted to the rank of higher education professor and received special recognition as the most prolific professor in publishing articles in national journals in his field of Life and Natural Sciences
Additionally, 26 qualified professors were honored with promotions to the rank of higher education professor, and 10 doctoral students who contributed articles to high-level international journals were honored, along with the top ten research professors according to the Scopus database, as follows:
- Professor Boubaker Ben Haoua, Faculty of Technology (80) A, meaning more than 80 articles in A-ranked journals.
- Professor Mohamed El Hadi Attia, Faculty of Exact Sciences: A+ (15), A (45), B (10).
- Professor El Djilani ben Attous, Faculty of Technology A (05), B (+50).
- Professor Rahal Achour, Faculty of Exact Sciences: a collection of journals.
- Professor Abdallah Reghioua, Faculty of Technology: A (03), B (02).
- Professor Salah Eddine Laaouini, Faculty of Technology A (50), B (55).
- Professor Dhaou Djamel, Faculty of Exact Sciences: a collection of journals.
- Professor Laid Zellouma, Faculty of Technology A (17), B(21).
- Professor Abdelkader Hima , Faculty of Technology: A (08), B (12).
- ProfessorTouhami Laanez, Faculty of Exact Sciences: A+ (3), A.

The ceremony concluded with a speech by the rector of the university, congratulating the distinguished professors and students, thanking them on behalf of the university community for their valuable scientific efforts and research that have contributed to enhancing the university’s academic standing nationally and internationally.
