11 étudiants d'Ouzbékistan sont venus apprendre l'arabe à l'Université d'El Oued
The Faculty of Arts and Languages at the University of El Oued welcomed 8 female students, 3 male students, and a supervisor professor from the Department of Arabic Language at the University of “World Languages” in the Republic of Uzbekistan on October 8, 2023. The University of World Languages teaches 22 world languages and is linked to the University of El Oued by a twinning and partnership agreement in the field of mobility, student exchanges, pedagogy, and scientific research.
The Uzbek student delegation was received at the airport and university residence by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Professor Dalal Ouchen, her vice dean for post-graduation, Professor Youssef Laib, her vice dean for studies affaires, Dr. Nasser Dahdah, and the head of the Department of Arabic Language, Dr. Yassine Misbahi, as well as the director of university services, Djamal Guerricha, and Abdel Rahman Bidji, director of the female residence, Saleh Hadda, and Saifeddine Hamtine, director of the male residence, Belhadi Abdelkader.
The Directorate of University Services also organized a dinner in honor of the guests, which brought together the administrative teams of university services and pedagogy of the Faculty of Arts and Languages. The Dean of the Faculty and the Director of Services gave welcoming speeches to the guest students.
Last weekend, the University Rector, Professor Omar Ferhati, held a coordination meeting with the stakeholders to organize the reception and accommodation of the Uzbek guest students and to review the pedagogical program prepared to teach them Arabic language and literature.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages gave a comprehensive summary of the conditions for receiving and training the Uzbek students in the faculty, the program dedicated to teaching them, and the type of professors assigned to the teaching process. She explained that the pedagogical program invested in several Arab and foreign experiences in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers and adapted it to the program and previous experiences acquired, especially since the faculty had previously received Uzbek and Malaysian students for the same purpose.
The Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Dr. Yassin Misbahi, also gave a presentation on the most important courses that the Uzbek students will study, which focus – as he said – on teaching them the pronunciation and reading of the Arabic language, teaching them its grammar and some sciences of the Quran and Arabic literature, including poetry and prose, including teaching them the science of prosody related to the conventions of poetry. The Head of the Department also confirmed that a selection of competent professors and a group of distinguished students in the Arabic language were chosen to interact with the guest students in order to enable them to obtain a high level in the Arabic language and to be able to communicate with it.
For his part, the Director of University Services, Djamal Guerricha, confirmed that his staff have gained qualitative experience through their previous dealings with foreign students, adding that the university guests will have companions from university services who will ensure that their needs are met and that all conditions of comfort are provided. The University rector also proposed outlining an additional activity program for their benefit, which includes organizing cultural and recreational activities and field visits to the most important tourist and cultural sites in the region.
It is worth noting that the University of El Oued recently received an offer from the University of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation to send a number of its students to learn Arabic in the framework of the twinning agreement signed between the two universities, which makes the University of El Oued a center of attraction for teaching Arabic to foreign students due to the experience of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature of the Faculty of Arts and Languages in the field of teaching foreigners Arabic language.
