The doctoral Contest for the academic year 2023/2022 has commenced at the University of El Oued

On February 4, 2023, Professor. Omar Ferhati, the rector of the University of El Oued, inaugurated the 2022/2023 Doctoral Competition at the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, and Faculty of Law and Political Science.

Accompanying the university rector,  Dr. Said Boumaza, Rector of the University of Algiers 2, Professor Boubakerr Mansour, Vice-Rector of the University for Postgraduation Research, and Professor Meki Derraji, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science were with him. Also, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Professor Lazhar Deyef, and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Mr. Nacer Dahda, as well as the examination center secretaries for the faculties were present.

During the visit, the university Rector and the accompanying delegation witnessed the envelope-opening process and observed a portion of the question-drawing process alongside the examining students. They also reviewed the examination conditions for the doctoral competition, including those for candidates with disabilities.

The university rector emphasized that the examination process was conducted under excellent logistical, pedagogical, and psychological conditions. He noted that this year’s doctoral contest was distinguished by the inclusion, for the first time, of the philosophy contest for the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences and the English language contest for the Faculty of Arts and Languages.

He added that the second part of the doctoral contest would take place on the following Saturday, February 11, 2023.

According to the Vice-Rector of the University who is responsible for Postgraduation and Scientific Research, the total number of candidates for the doctoral competition at the University of El Oued this year was 8477, distributed among 12 departments and 23 specializations. The proposed number of positions was 72. In the Faculty of Arts and Languages, there were 749 candidates for the English language department across three specialties, while in the Faculty of Law and Political Science, there were 2182 candidates across three specialties: Business Law (580 candidates), Administrative Law (1106 candidates), and Real Estate Law (496 candidates). In the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, there were 1194 candidates distributed among Philosophy (386 candidates) and Communication Sciences (808 candidates) across three specialties: Audiovisual Communication (255 candidates), Print and Electronic Journalism (149 candidates), and Public Relations and New Media (404 candidates).
