University of El Oued Concludes the First Training Conference on the Risks of Drugs and Addiction in Light of Psychotherapeutic Approaches

On June 8, 2023, the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the University of Martyr Hamou Lkhder concluded the First Training Conference on the Risks of Drugs and Addiction in Light of Psychotherapeutic Approaches. The conference was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Amar Ghraysia, the President of the Conference, Dr. Rahma Ghrab, and participants from professors, specialists, and students from inside and outside the university.

After discussing the conference’s problem, which resulted in several questions, the following workshops were launched:

Workshop 1: How to Build a Therapeutic Protocol for Drug Use and Addiction Cases

This workshop aims to achieve the general principles of treatment, clarify the difference between drug users and addicts, and the foundations and formulation of a therapeutic protocol.

Workshop 2: Cognitive Behavioral Therapies for Drug Use and Addiction Cases

This workshop aims to identify the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy for drug addicts, determine the mechanisms of cognitive behavioral therapy for therapeutic intervention in drug addicts, identify the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, and identify the most important psychological tests and tools used in cognitive behavioral therapy. The workshop also presents cases in which cognitive behavioral therapy has been successful in recovering from drug use and addiction.

Workshop 3: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Techniques for Abstinence from Drug Use and Addiction

This workshop aims to introduce drug addiction from the perspective of acceptance and commitment therapy, the therapeutic steps for addiction (clarifying values, committed action), the role of the therapist and the therapeutic environment, the role of the addicted patient, as well as the family and social environment of the addict, and the role of the peer group surrounding the addict.

Workshop 4: Group Therapy to Reduce Symptoms of Drug Use and Addiction

This workshop aims to introduce the 15 therapeutic forces (Jackson) and (Harville) for group therapy for addicts, the framework and interventions with groups of addicts, leadership, skills, and risks in group therapy.
