Un séminaire à l'Université d'El Oued sur la situation actuelle et les perspectives du boisement dans la ville (région saharienne).
Today, on March 21, 2023, El Oued University, in coordination with the Forestry Department, organized a seminar on “The Current Situation and Prospects of Afforestation in El Oued city” under the slogan “Forests and Health,” held at the Abu Al-Qasim Saadallah Grand Hall.
This event was organized on the International Day of Forests, which coincides on March 21 of each year. The General- Secretary of El Oued city was attended the event, with the director of Forests’ Preservation department, the rector of the university Professor Omar Ferhati, his deans, the deputy chairman of Wilaya, the mayor of El Oued city , the mayor of el Oued town, forestry officials, university staff, and members of the Islamic Scouts Green Club.
The rector of the university delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting the significance of this auspicious day and the importance of this distinguished event in the field of forest and tree care. On this occasion, he emphasized the importance of the university’s experimental farm, affirming that it represents a model farm for a new agricultural experiment in an advanced manner, and thanking the forestry governor for this strategic partnership between the university and the Forests’ Preservation department.
The forestry governor, in his turn, delivered a welcoming speech addressing everyone, discussing environmental issues and conservation methods, as well as the vital role of forests in maintaining environmental balance, regulating the climate, and their impact in human life. He urged collective efforts to protect and enhance awareness about forests, ensuring that future generations have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits and beauty they offer. He also presented the sector’s achievements, highlighting modern irrigation technology such as the “Waterbox,” which represents a qualitative leap in tree irrigation in dry areas located in desert.
Dr. Ahmed Allali delivered a speech entitled “Adapted Tree Species in the El Oued Region,” discussing environmental diversity, vegetation cover, and their relationship with animals, birds, and humans.
The event concluded with the honoring of the representatives employees from Forests’ Preservation department in this occasion for their promotions, as well as the honoring of the forestry governor by the members of the Islamic Scouts Green Club.
