On October 26, 2023, the University of El Oued launched the official Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training project for members of its Psychological Assistance Centre. This initiative is part of the university’s commitment to advancing mental health support services for both students and staff.
The event was attended by key university leaders, including:
- Dr. Ammar Graissa, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences.
- Professor Belal Bouter’aa, Head of the Department of Social Sciences.
- Dr. Rahma Grarib, Director of the Psychological Assistance Centre, alongside her dedicated team of psychologists.
In collaboration with Professor Ahmed Khalifa Abdel Salam from Beni Suef University, Egypt, the project includes a robust training schedule aimed at equipping the staff with advanced skills in cognitive-behavioral therapies. This cross-border partnership highlights the university’s efforts to foster global expertise and enhance the mental health services available to its academic community.
The centre’s team members—Dr. Hind Ghadaifi, Dr. Samira Ammamra, Marwa Dhiban, and Amal Zaghwan—actively participated in the training sessions, focusing on strategies to better serve staff and students in need of mental health support.
Through initiatives like this, the University of El Oued underscores its commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based mental health services, ensuring a supportive environment for its academic and administrative staff.
